Yoga

Dive into stillness with Sarah.

“Yoga is like music: the rhythm of the body, the melody of the mind, and the harmony of the soul create the symphony of life.” ― B.K.S. Iyengar

Yoga, like music, takes me to a place deep within.

Each yoga posture – asana – is like a distinct melody that harmonizes within the body to bring it into balance. With the establishment of a regular yogic practice we can develop greater strength and flexibility in our bodies, but also our minds. From this place we are better equipped to face life’s daily challenges. Hatha yoga teacher and practitioner Sarah Hyland has held this philosophy for the past 17 years.

In 1998 Sarah began her studies in Hatha yoga under master teacher Acharya Upendra Roy, one of the pioneers of yoga in Australia. Three years later she began teaching under Acharya’s supervision, completing her teacher training in 2006.

Since then she has deepened her experience in ashrams in India and the United States. A passionate teacher, Sarah brings over a decade of experience in Hatha yoga, weaving in influences of Iyengar and Vinyasa traditions, to offer a unique style of restorative yoga. She combines a warm, personable approach with a deep knowledge of the discipline to help her students develop strength, correct alignment, flexibility and a new sense of inner calm. Sarah’s teaching remains true to the work of her teacher Acharya who used a blend of deep relaxation, meditation, asana and pranayama – breathing exercises – in each class. Sarah currently teaches corporate and private classes and is a regular casual teacher at Acharya’s House of Yoga located in Sydney’s CBD.
